The xTool F2 is one of my favorite laser machines for making personalized Christmas gifts because it makes customizing small projects so quick and easy.
If you own a laser machine, Christmas is probably one of the BEST times of year to put it to work.
You can make personalized gifts for family and friends, create custom ornaments and gift tags, make your own gift packaging, or even use your laser to make products to sell at Christmas craft fairs and holiday markets.
And the xTool F2 is especially fun to use for Christmas gifts because it works so well with smaller personalized projects.
Think jewelry, keychains, ornaments, gift tags, coasters, small cutting boards, and all of those little gifts that become so much more special when you add a name, date, drawing, or handwritten message.
In the video below, I am sharing some easy Christmas gifts I made with my xTool F2. But I am also including even MORE xTool F2 Christmas gift ideas throughout this post to give you plenty of inspiration for your own holiday projects.
Why I Love the xTool F2 for Making Christmas Gifts
I have larger laser machines that I absolutely love (like the xTool P2 you see here), but I don't always need a giant laser bed when I am making Christmas gifts.
A lot of the gifts I personalize are actually pretty small.
Think about things like:
- Jewelry
- Keychains
- Ornaments
- Gift tags
- Small cutting boards
- Cork coasters
- Bookmarks
- Small signs
- Bag tags
- Gift boxes
Those are exactly the types of projects that work really well with the F2. The F2 also has both a diode laser and an infrared laser, so you aren't limited to just one type of material. You can make gifts using wood, metal, cork, paper products, leather, and more.
And then there is the portability.
That is one of the biggest things that sets the F2 apart from my larger laser machines.
Not only can you use it at home to make your own Christmas gifts, but you can take it to a holiday market or craft fair and offer personalization on site.
That means someone could potentially choose a gift, have you add a name or other personalization, and leave with a finished Christmas gift.
Personalized Christmas Keychains
The first Christmas gifts I made in the video were personalized wooden keychains for my nieces. One got a horse with her name, and the other got a design based on something she loves.
Keychains are such an easy Christmas gift because you can completely customize them to the person receiving them.
You could add:
- Names
- Initials
- Monograms
- Favorite animals
- Sports numbers
- School mascots
- Children's artwork
- Handwriting
- Birth flowers
- Favorite hobbies
- Coordinates
- Simple symbols
You could also make them from wood, use metal keychain blanks, or acrylic. They would make great stocking stuffers or inexpensive gifts for teachers, coaches, coworkers, teens, grandparents, neighbors, or friends.
For a craft fair, you could have several designs ready to go and simply add the person's name, a date, small drawing, etc.
Reusable Wooden Christmas Gift Tags
Next, I made wooden Christmas gift tags for the popular:

Instead of throwing these tags away with the wrapping paper on Christmas morning, you can save them and use them again year after year.
But you definitely don't have to use that particular gift tradition.
You could engrave wooden tags with:
- From Santa

- Merry Christmas
- Special Delivery
- North Pole Delivery
- Christmas Eve
- Names for each family member
- Baby's First Christmas
- Secret Santa
You could even make a set of personalized wooden tags with everyone's names and use them instead of disposable gift tags each Christmas.
I love little projects like this because they are simple to make but make your Christmas gifts feel so much more special.
Personalized Christmas Charcuterie Boards
A personalized mini charcuterie board would make a beautiful Christmas gift for a family, neighbor, hostess, or couple.
In the video, I added a family name to mine.
You could engrave:
- A family name
- Monogram
- Established date
- Family recipe
- Handwritten recipe
- Christmas design
- House illustration
- Short kitchen saying
You could even turn it into a larger gift basket. Add some cheese, crackers, jam, chocolates, or other charcuterie favorites and you have an entire Christmas gift ready to give.
One thing I learned while making mine was how much the direction of the wood grain can affect your results.
The inexpensive wood I was using didn't engrave evenly on my first attempt. Once I changed the engraving direction to follow the wood grain, it came out much better.
So TEST your blanks before making the real thing, especially if you're making multiples for Christmas gifts.
Personalized Cork Trivets and Coasters
Cork is quickly becoming one of my favorite materials to engrave with the F2.
In the video, I made a personalized cork trivet with a family monogram.
It engraved really dark and clean, AND it was fast.
You could create personalized:
- Trivets
- Coasters
- Pot holders with cork inserts
- Plant mats
- Cork notebook covers
- Desk accessories
A set of personalized coasters would make an easy Christmas gift on its own.
Or pair a personalized trivet with a new casserole dish, cookbook, kitchen towels, or a favorite family recipe.
This is another project I would consider for a Christmas craft fair because the actual engraving can be done so quickly.
Engraved Christmas Gift Boxes
You don't have to make the gift itself with your F2. You can use it to make the PACKAGING.
In the video, I engraved "Merry Christmas" directly onto the lid of a kraft gift box. But there are so many ways you could personalize the box.
Add:
- A name
- Family name
- Merry Christmas
- From Santa
- A handwritten message
- Children's artwork
- A monogram
- Your business logo
If you sell at Christmas markets, this could be a fun add-on to your personalized products.
Someone could purchase a necklace and then upgrade to a gift box personalized with the recipient's name.
Now they can leave the market with a gift that is basically ready to put under the tree.
Turn Your Child's Drawing Into a Christmas Ornament
THIS is the kind of gift I love making most with a laser.
In the video, I took an actual drawing from my son and turned it into a wooden Christmas ornament.
I imported his drawing, traced it to create an engravable design, and then created an offset so the F2 could cut around the outside.
Now I have his actual artwork preserved as an ornament.
These would make such sweet Christmas gifts for:
- Grandparents
- Parents
- Aunts and uncles
- Teachers
- Godparents
And it doesn't have to be a complicated drawing.
You could use:
- A child's drawing
- Their handwriting
- A handwritten "I love you"
- A signature
- A family member's handwriting
- A doodle
- A handwritten recipe
- A drawing of the family
- A child's drawing of Grandma or Grandpa
Imagine pulling out an ornament 15 years from now with your child's kindergarten handwriting on it.
Those are the Christmas decorations I want to keep.

Storybook Christmas Ornaments
I also made one of the little storybook-style ornaments that have become so popular. I include two different option free SVGs, the one in the video designed like a tiny gingerbread house and an additional snowflake option.
This type of ornament gives you even more room to get creative because you aren't starting with a premade blank.
You could even make a new design every year and turn them into a collection.
Personalized Metal Christmas Ornaments
I also tested a metal ornament, and I LOVE how polished metal looks once it is engraved.
For mine, I created a simple First Christmas design that could be personalized with a name.
This is another project that makes a lot of sense for Christmas markets.
Instead of creating every ornament from scratch, have several designs ready to go.
Customers could choose:
- Their ornament design
- Their font
- Their name or personalization
Then you simply change the text and engrave it.
You could offer designs for:
- Baby's First Christmas
- First Christmas Married
- Our First Christmas
- New Home
- New Puppy
- New Baby
- Engagement
- Family Christmas
- Grandparents
- Teachers
- Memorial ornaments
One thing I learned from my test is to pay attention to processing time if you're planning to engrave live.
The font I chose took longer than I expected. For a market, I would test several fonts and settings ahead of time to find options that look good AND engrave quickly.
Personalized Christmas Jewelry
Jewelry might still be one of my favorite gifts to make with the F2.
For the necklace in this video, I used a tiny heart my husband actually drew and added our anniversary date underneath it.
The engraving itself took only seconds.
Once I cleaned the charm, added the necklace, and put it into a pretty box, I had an incredibly personal gift made from a relatively inexpensive blank.
You could engrave Christmas jewelry with:
- Children's handwriting
- A spouse's handwriting
- Initials
- Names
- Important dates
- Birth flowers
- Coordinates
- Tiny drawings
- Hearts drawn by loved ones
- Signatures
- Simple symbols
This would be SUCH a fun option for a Christmas market too.
You could even have an iPad available and let customers write or draw something right there. Imagine a dad having his child draw a tiny heart and then having it engraved onto a necklace for Mom.
That is not something he is going to walk into a big box store and find.

xTool F2 Christmas Craft Fair and Market Ideas
Christmas markets are where the portability of the F2 gets REALLY interesting.
If I were setting up an F2 personalization booth, though, I would keep things simple. I would NOT bring 50 different products and promise that I could personalize anything anyone wanted.
That honestly sounds like a nightmare.
Instead, I would pick a handful of products that I had already tested over and over.
For example:
- Metal jewelry
- Metal keychains
- Cork coasters
- Cork trivets
- Metal ornaments
- Wooden keychains
- Bookmarks
- Gift tags
- Gift boxes
Then I would create a limited menu of personalization options.
For ornaments, maybe customers choose from five designs and four fonts.
For jewelry, maybe they choose between an initial, name, handwritten heart, date, or tiny drawing.
Limiting the choices still gives your customer a personalized Christmas gift while making the process MUCH easier for you.
And most importantly, practice everything before the market.
Make the Christmas Gift AND the Packaging
You can also use your F2 to make the entire gift feel more special.
Make the actual personalized gift and then:
- Engrave the gift box
- Make a reusable wooden gift tag
- Add a personalized ornament
- Create a custom gift card holder
- Add the recipient's name to the packaging
- Engrave your business logo
For handmade businesses, this is also a way to offer a gift-ready option. Christmas shoppers are BUSY.
If someone can stop at your booth, purchase a personalized gift, have it packaged, and walk away basically ready to put it under the tree, that is incredibly convenient.
My Biggest Tip Before Making Christmas Gifts: TEST EVERYTHING
If you watch my video, you will see that not every project went perfectly on the first try.
I learned that the direction of the wood grain mattered with some of the inexpensive wood I was using.
Some projects needed another pass. One font took much longer to engrave than I expected. I had to adjust positioning. I had to troubleshoot autofocus.
That's part of learning a laser machine.
But there is a BIG difference between messing up a practice blank in October and messing up your last blank at 11 PM on December 23rd.
So please, test first.
And if you are planning to sell personalized gifts at a Christmas market, practice the exact products you're going to sell.
Know your settings.
Know your placement.
Know how long each product takes.
Know how you're going to package it.
And have extra blanks.
Christmas is stressful enough. You don't need to add unnecessary laser drama to the list.
What Makes a Great Personalized Christmas Gift?
My favorite laser-made Christmas gifts aren't necessarily the biggest or most complicated.
They're the ones that actually mean something to the person receiving them. A necklace with the heart your child drew. An ornament made from your kindergartner's artwork. Grandma's handwritten recipe engraved onto a cutting board. A keychain based on someone's favorite hobby. A baby's first Christmas ornament with their name and birth year.
Those are things you cannot just grab off a shelf while you're doing your Christmas shopping.
And that's one of the biggest reasons I love using a laser to make gifts.
Final Thoughts
There are SO many Christmas gifts you can make with the xTool F2.
You can keep things incredibly simple with a personalized keychain or ornament, or create something much more sentimental using handwriting, children's artwork, or a special drawing.
And if you own a handmade business, the portability of the F2 gives you even more possibilities during Christmas market season.
Whatever you decide to make, start early, test your materials, and don't be afraid to practice on a few inexpensive blanks first.
Because if you're anything like me, Christmas crafting has a way of turning into Christmas crafting at the very last minute. And having your settings figured out ahead of time makes that a whole lot easier.
