Free Digital Composition Book for Apps Like Goodnotes

This free digital composition book is probably my most favorite thing I have ever made for digital planning. When I designed it for myself, I knew I had to share it with my readers.

If you’re a lover of school supplies – this digital composition book is perfect for you. It has realistic pages, a cover, and of course – the always handy schedule in the inner cover and measurement and conversion tables in the inner back cover.

Digital notebooks allow you to organize your notes, to do lists, thoughts, journal reflections, and so much more. They are an open-ended product with endless possibilities.

How Do you Navigate the Digital Notebook?

Here is a quick video showing you how to navigate the digital notebook.

What is a Digital Notebook?

The digital composition book is a typical digital notebook. A digital notebook is an interactive PDF file that is compatible with digital planning apps such as Goodnotes.

This particular design looks exactly like a traditional composition book. It has light blue lines with the red border line on the side.

Much like a traditional notebook, it only has lined pages so you can use for any and all note-taking, writing, planning, and more.

This is an image of a tablet open to the inner front cover of the free digital composition book you can get in this post.

How is the Notebook Set Up?

You can see a video walkthrough of the set up above. But here is a written description.

At the front of the notebook, there is a table of contents. This is where you can fill in the different category headings for each section of the notebook along with clickable links to each section.

In addition, the inner front cover has a blank schedule you can fill in (like a traditional composition book). And the inner back cover has common measurement tables and conversions.

How Many Sections are in the Notebook?

You’ll get 24 hyperlinked sections in the this digital composition notebook. When you click on the circled number for the section in the table of contents, you will be taken to that notebook section.

Two Options Included

The two composition notebooks are identical except one thing. On the schedule in the inner cover, one option is a Sunday start calendar while the other is a Monday start.

What’s the Best Digital Planner App?

There are multiple digital planning apps out there. My personal favorite is GoodNotes.

It is a user-friendly app that made the transition from paper to digital planning easy. Plus, it’s such a popular app that most any digital planning products out there will work with the app.

Here are the most common digital planning apps.

  • Goodnotes
  • Notability
  • ZoomNotes
  • Zinnia
  • Noteshelf
  • Penly
  • Xodo

What Can I use the Free Digital Composition Book for?

What Type of Tablet is Best for Digital Planning?

I can only speak from my own personal experience. I use an iPad pro paired with an Apple Pencil. But any app that can take interactive planners will allow you to use these interactive PDFs on any table like Android tablets.

What Formats are Included?

You will get one format included, an interactive PDF format.

Can You Use the Notebook File More than Once?

Yes! You can download the file and use it over and over again – making multiple notebooks for various subjects, topics, classes, etc.

What Are the Benefits of Digital Notebooks vs. Paper Notebooks?

Using a digital notebook over a paper notebook offers several benefits. It’s an ideal tool for students, parents, planner people, professionals, and anyone who enjoys organizing their thoughts and tasks.

Here are some of the top benefits:

1. Portability

You can carry your notebook (or notebooks) on a single device, such as a tablet or smartphone, without the bulk of physical notebooks.

2. Search Functionality

This is my favorite feature when it comes to digital planning. You can easily search for keywords, topics, or dates within your notes (even if they’re handwritten). This saves so much time compared to flipping through physical pages.

3. Organization

Digital notebooks allow you to categorize and organize notes by 24 unique sections. Each section can represent different subjects, projects, or events, etc.

4. Eco-Friendly

No paper is wasted.

5. Multimedia Integration

Insert images, videos, links, audio recordings, and even scanned documents directly into your notebook without scissors, glue, etc.

6. Cloud Storage and Syncing

Your notes can be automatically backed up to the cloud and synced across multiple devices. You’ll never have to worry about losing your notebook again.

7. Handwriting Recognition

Many digital notebooks come with handwriting recognition technology, allowing you to convert handwritten notes into typed text.

8. Editing Flexibility

You can edit, move, and rearrange notes easily. Mistakes can be erased, and notes can be reorganized without needing to rewrite everything.

9. Accessibility Features

Many digital notebooks offer accessibility features such as text-to-speech, font customization, and the ability to zoom in for better readability.

Overall, digital notebooks combine the flexibility of traditional note-taking with the convenience of modern technology.
