If you have older children or teens in your home, you have probably heard the viral 6–7 joke that has been circling social media and YouTube. This year, your scout elf can join the fun too.
These free 6–7 Elf on the Shelf printables let you turn the popular joke into a silly elf setup that older kids, younger siblings, and even adults will get a kick out of. It is a great way to add a mischievous twist to your family elf tradition and bring some extra laughs to the holiday season.

This set includes everything you need for a quick elf idea, whether this is your elf’s first year or you have been doing elf shenanigans for a long time. You will get PDF and JPG versions of elf shirts and pennants for both one elf and two elf setups, plus a set of 12 printable note cards that play on the 6–7 meme.
Simply print, cut, and set up your elf. No extra cost, no complicated crafting, and no last night panic when you realize you have no idea what to do with your elf.

What Is the 6–7 Meme?
The 6–7 joke started as a YouTube and TikTok trend where teens say “6…7” in a dramatic or mysterious way with a hand motion going back and forth with their hands, often acting like it holds some deep meaning. Kids repeat it to each other as a kind of inside joke.
The poor teachers hear it all day long and I am sure are ready for the “joke” to be over (and they’re probably ready to ask Santa for any kid doing the joke to be removed from the nice list).
Now your scout elf can be part of the fun. These printables let you set up your elf with their own version of the trend, complete with a shirt, a pennant, and cute little notes your elf can leave behind. They’ll be headed back to the North Pole doing 6-7 for all the other fellow elf friends.

What’s Included in the Free 6–7 Elf Printable Set
You’ll receive a bundle of free elf printables designed specifically for the 6–7 trend. These include: an elf shirt design for one elf, matching shirts for two elves, multiple pennants that say 6–7, and a set of 12 printable cards with funny elf notes inspired by the meme.
The printable notes are a fun way for your elf to “explain” the joke, tease the kids, or simply add to the humor. Add to the elf set up with some bonus additions (like some snacks or candy canes for the one about being hungry).
The set comes in both JPG and PDF formats so you can choose whichever print format works best for your home printer. You can also use the JPGs to shrink the designs if your elf is smaller or larger for bigger elves.

What Age is the 6-7 Elf on the Shelf Set Up For?
This setup works for kids of all ages, but is especially older children who sometimes feel like the elf tradition is more for younger siblings. Including a trend from their world is a great way to keep them engaged and make your family elf feel like one of Santa’s little helpers who knows what’s going on in social media.
Younger siblings who don’t understand the trend will still enjoy the funny notes, while older children will feel like your elf is keeping up with their world. Honestly, the little ones have probably heard it at school, on the bus, or around the house any way – I know kindergarteners are definitely joining in the fun.
I would only do it with younger kids if they have older siblings otherwise the joke will probably be over their head. For younger kids, try our free printable Elf Skittle experiment or Free Elf Disney Inspired set including some cute Mickey and Minnie Ears and their famous snacks.

A Fun and Easy Elf on the Shelf Idea
If you struggle to come up with easy elf ideas during the month of December, this printable set is the perfect thing to save for a night when you need something quick. Your scout elves can show up wearing the 6–7 shirt, holding a pennant, or sitting next to one of the printable signs. You can also add small props you already have at home, like candy canes or mini accessories, but it isn’t necessary. The great thing is that the free printables do all the work for you.

How to Print and Assemble your 6-7 Elf Props
Print the JPG or PDF files on regular paper or card stock for sturdier props. Cut them out, dress your elf, and set up your scene. The printables are sized to fit standard scout elves, but you can scale them down if needed.

After cutting out the shirts and pennants, fold the pennants in half over a straw. This is to ensure the straw will fit in the pennant.

Glue the two ends of the pennant leaving the inner folded section, unglued. It should look like above where the inner edge has a puffed opening for the straw to fit back in.

Create a small tape loop or add some glue to the end of the straw where you want the pennant to go. I like to leave a little bit of the straw out at the top. Place the pennant onto the straw (with the straw in the inner puffed out edge) and push down to adhere the pennant to the straw.

Now slip the cut out shirt under the arms of the elf as shown above (or just over the front of the elf if you have their hands detached.

Fold the strips of the shirt behind the elf and add some tape to secure them. If you are doing a set up where their backs will be visible, place the tape under the straps so it’s not visible. I prefer to have their backs not visible so I can really secure the shirts and not worry about the tape showing.
How to Set Up Your 6–7 Elf Scene
There are lots of fun ideas for displaying your elf with these printables – you can go super simple or more complicated. It’s up to you if you print out one of the joke cards or not and which shirt set to use.
You can have your elf (or elves) stand on the kitchen counter holding the 6–7 pennant like they are making some big announcement. Place your elf on a Christmas tree branch wearing the 6–7 shirt.

Or for a bit more fun, have them holding 6 & 7 Uno or playing cards or sitting next to a printable calendar with 6 & 7 circled (grab one of our free printable calendars here). I plan to put my elves out with this set up on December 6 to take the joke even further.
If you use the joke about being hungry, add some candy canes or food. If you have a pet reindeer for your elf, use the reindeer in the set up with the reindeer joke card.
If your elf has bendable hands, I would try to make their hands look like they are positioned like in the meme. Send one of the joke cards (or more) in your child’s lunch for an added joke during the Christmas season.
Have older kids helping you with the set up for little kids? It’s a good idea to ask them how they would set up the props, they are filled with great ideas that are sure to please their younger siblings.

Why These Printables Make Elf Season Easier
Elf season can feel long during the month of December, especially for parents trying to come up with new ideas every night. These free printables (among my many others) give you a creative way to boost the magic of Christmas and create a fun Christmas tradition without spending money or stressing about complicated setups. They also work well for parents who prefer minimal mess and quick ideas.

A Great Way to Keep Older Kids Engaged
Many older children still love the elf tradition but appreciate when the elf does something clever instead of just sitting on a shelf. Using a current trend like the 6–7 joke makes your elf feel updated and relevant. Older kids will appreciate the humor, while younger kids will enjoy the silly cards and cute props even if they don’t fully understand the trend.
This is also a great idea for families who have a “family elf” shared by siblings. The notes and props give you flexibility to tailor the messages to their personalities or sign the elf’s name for an extra personalized touch.
If you are ready to add a funny, trendy, and super easy setup to your elf calendar this year, scroll down to download your free 6–7 Elf on the Shelf printables. This is a great way to bring holiday magic, family traditions, and much fun into your home without extra prep. Merry Christmas and happy elf season!
